Diversity Thursday has always been been love/hate. Loved your biting wit and sneer, yet hate its necessity. Ever vigilant

It’s about money. All under the guise of establishing racial diversity. They want to tie together VMI under control of another school’s board of visitors (VSU) so VMI’s endowment and federal funding can be redistributed to other schools. And take a skim too for the politicians. VMI’s endowment is 8x VSU’s.

This is so infuriating. I have two relatives by marriage who attended VMI. Better men would be hard to find. I know graduates from there who served our nation with honor. As a Virginian, the history of this place is irreplaceable. Sadly, the institute helped the enemy when they allowed it to take away the statue. This is a hill worth dying on. I hope the governor and all her minions pay dearly in credibility and political influence by the time this ends. They have shown their true colors and people need to take heed now, and for a lesson of what the demoncraps will do if they take over everywhere in 2026.

Amen! Evil, like rust, never sleeps or is fully conquered.

Isn't the student body at VMI already around 25% "diverse?"

"The enrolled student population at Virginia Military Institute is 71.7% White, 9.36% Hispanic or Latino, 7.12% Black or African American, 5% Asian, 3.91% Two or More Races, 0.705% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islanders, and 0.385% American Indian or Alaska Native. This includes both full-time and part-time students as well as graduate and undergraduates.

By comparison, enrollment for all Baccalaureate Colleges is 53.2% White, 14.1% Hispanic or Latino, and 12.9% Black or African American."

My bet VMI is just not on the radar, and there's more lucrative options for the POC who would qualify.

the Fox interview missed a good feature. they asked the white cadet what his job, was S-3, but failed to ask Devine, the black cadet. He's the Regimental Commander

CDR Sal, as you note, things can be undone in an instant. Virginia went totally blue in the blink of an eye. The so-called "moderate" ex-CIA now governor has the state house and senate in her control. It's going to be a long four years. VMI irritated the dems a short while ago; this is part one of what promises to be a "revenge tour". VMI need not ask for mercy, because none will be forthcoming. Sadly, four years from now, likely looking at more of the same. Elections matter more than ever. Consider VMI an object lesson in what to expect when the next Democrat administration takes power at the federal level.

The CIA is America's enemy, but not in the way Hollyweird thinks.

Not even four years.

Midterms are this year, and it looks like a lot of Republicans are doing their usual dropping of trou for the Dems in spite of R voters being pretty clear that they didn't vote for giving the Dems a de facto majority if not a de jure one.

Not having the presidency means they won't have complete power, but a solidly Dem controlled (de facto and de jure) Congress can still be obstructionist (see the J6 committee), and definitely won't be interested in giving Trump anything of what he campaigned on.

The R-Team is running out of excuses to deny the will of the people, so they will lose to the D-Team on purpose so they can fundraise from the sidelines.

Meanwhile, the All Government All the Time League always wins, whichever of the teams in the league takes the helm for a while.

On the other hand: Take the King's shilling, you do the King's bidding. Harvard and Yale are considered to be a Private Universities. So why couldn't VMI became "private" in the same manner? Or become another US Military Academy in the same way as West Point, Annapolis, The Air Force Academy? Might be an improvement since Virginia would no longer have a say.

Norwich, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwich_University

Norwich University is a private university in Northfield, Vermont, United States. The university was founded in 1819 as the "American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy". It is the oldest of six senior military colleges and is recognized by the United States Department of Defense as the "Birthplace of ROTC".

Thank you for the information. Learn something new and interesting every day. Seems to be a good way for VMI to go, especially in the long run.

Brettbaker's avatar

".... lack of accountability..." do they REALLY want to go there in regards to colleges?

DEI is just optics to disguise the neo-Marxist agenda infecting all our institutions. If they fail to obtain their goal then they call for violence and destruction.

It's not unique in history. It's just never happened here.

No complacency or surrender to Tik-Tok Trotskyism.

" We have no compassion, and we ask none. When our turn comes, we shall make no excuses for the terror."

It's been happening here for at least 60 years, but they've been getting their way for the past 50 except for very brief interludes, when the violence and destruction are unleashed.

In other words: Virginia's Democrats cunningly lured Virginia's Republicans into pointless ideological battle around VMI. Thus ensuring that Republicans would concentrate their attention on this - meaningless for most of voters - cause, and forgot all about economical matters (which are the ones, that REALLY matters to general voter). Actually a good, strategically sound plan.

Just thinking out loud. Would it be a good thing if an armored dozer razed it all to the ground and turned it into a turnip farm rather than see it turned into a diploma mill for the unemployable pierced and tatted student body they are seeking? Permits must be drawn, of course.

Good Morning CDR and fellow shipmates. Time is 0524 on Friday Morning. Virginia Military Institute (VMI) “Souls”, yes, the staunch students and graduates are sounding the “Alarm”! The bonfires in the towers have been lit-up! We United States Navy folks are seeing the “Signal”! Some of us, me for example, are hearing their rattle of sabers! Together we stand strong! CDR is more eloquent with words. Yesterday’s C-SPAN news said Virginia residents are balking at the new taxes imposed upon them, by the new Virginia Democratic Governor; example, taxes on Dog-Walkers! Local News wrote The Washington Post is laying off 300 workers! TASS from Beijing warned any miscalculation with damage done in the Straight of Hormuz will cause irreparable damage to Shipping! Military Officers of the USA, faithful Enlisted too, must stand strong against Democrats pushing DEI down the throats of our Nation’s young and old alike! It’s a “Call to Arms” America! Defend VMI and the worthy men and women fighting to keep their integrity intact! Growing up (maturing) among South Carolinians, I learned the “Best” men and now women, too, come from Virginia. Honor them please! With respect, Nurse Jane

The governor of Virginia ran as a "moderate. "

We see that "moderate" in the Democrat party is just a word used to hide their far-left agenda.

There is no lack of similar examples:

"Undocumented" not "illegal" makes you think someone just misplaced their paperwork rather than committed a crime.

"Diversity" really means placing people in arbitrary groups like "class" and setting them against each other.

"Equity" means payback for crimes you never committed.

And you are not "included."

And "From the River to the Sea Palestine will be Free" sounds so much better than "Jews to the Ovens."

Etc. Etc. Etc.

The far-left makes this possible by their grip on the cultural institutions - entertainment, media, law, education, etc. We see K-12 teachers who think their job is to create the next cadre of Red Guards rather than teach students the 3Rs.

I think St. Paul explained it succinctly when he defined the struggle against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).

Time for us to put on the whole armor of God.

OrwellWasRight's avatar

She IS a moderate Democrat.

The bulk of the party is closer to the Bolsheviks at this point.

Pete's avatar

Now you are scaring me.

There probably was once a good argument for state funded universities but imo VMI would be best as a private entity.
