A MUC is an honorable award but I believe a NUC was more than deserved in a real life shooting event.

Concur - the Brigade of Midshipman got a MUC before I got one following multiple OEF/OIF deployments.

Pete's avatar

I wonder if the skipper got an honorary Legion of Merit.

the Brigade of Midshipman got a MUC? What for?

Fullbore Friday is can't miss viewing. BZ to ship and crew! Full disclosure, I'm half Scottish. And I'm really concerned about the future of the UK, and Europe in general when it comes to being dependable allies...as they are with us. "But we'll always have WWll...".

Pete's avatar

The UK is gone.

Imported and surrendered to the Saracens.

There was no Alfred the Great or Richard the Lion Hearted to save the nation.

I still say if William were to mount a noble steed, grab a sword, and lead the Britons in a campaign to rid the Island of the infidel he'd solidify his legacy for 500 years.

I wonder when and who made the recommendation for the award. It was a good idea and well earned.

As the government of Britain becomes more and more islamicized, how dependable will they be?

Ed: At what point do we stop calling it Britain?

When Princess Kate wears a veil and a burka.

What happens when the Islamic Republic of England gains control of the nuclear weapons?

.....that will be a bad day. 🌐⏰ Unfortunately don't forget that for eight years the sorcerer bho had the keys to the kingdom in these Estados Unidos. 😬🫣

He did plenty of damage to this country.

Was there a British squadron of warships involved or was their commitment limited to this one small combatant? Where did the Brits positition their aircraft carriers during all of this?

The two carriers were in home waters. They are only now getting their own F-35's, so they won't have to rely on the US Marines to deploy aboard.

To the Brit's credit though, they have deployed the Prince of Wales on a world cruise.

There are only 5 total Type 45 Darings active. So they can't deploy a "squadron".

So the Brits really can’t do maritime force projection. The efforts of this single small combatant were admirable but really not meaningfully material.

I wonder if any of the college educated ...oh so smart...Zoomers who voted for Mondami know what happened to the French Communards?

The vast majority of the US population will get fed up with this attempt at establishing Communist Utopias in the major cities.

Uh, people were commenting on the efforts of the Royal Navy. There was only one Cato the Elder.

Well done. I support more use of unit awards over personal awards. Recognizing that we operate as teams, and that excellence is worth it.

The three "E" ribbons mean more to me than the "average sailor doing an average job" NAMs that were sent my way.

Great Britain was the workshop of the world.

Sterling was the reserve currency.

Money flowed in from her overseas investments.

The sun never set on the British Empire.

Britannia ruled the waves.

Look at her now. We are going down the same path. I hope it's not too late for us.

RN is still capable, if thin on the water. The important point is that it is in the UK's interest (and the EU's to keep the Red Sea and Suez open because of oil. For the US, it is a matter of indifference so we should let Europe handle it.

Pete's avatar

Uk and France tried in 1956 but we forced them to withdraw from Suez Big mistake on Ike’s part.

Billy's avatar

The greatest trick the British ever played was convincing the US they were their friends.

Pete's avatar

Why do you say that?

Billy's avatar

Why did the Germans sink the Lusitania?

Pete's avatar

I fail to see you point.

Billy's avatar

Because it was carrying weapons, which made it a valid target.

Who put those weapons there and why?

Pete's avatar

No one forced the Germans to sink a passenger ship with over 100 Americans aboard. Sounds to me like the Germans were the bad guys.

Billy's avatar

The Germans were in a no win situation, if they let one passenger ship carry weapons for the British, then the British would continue to use passenger ships to carry arms.

Why did the Russian fleet visit NYC during the Civil War?

I would have said it was the other way round, old boy - someone’s already mentioned Suez… where we were given a sharp lesson in the New World Order and made to toe the US policy line.

Great post and a great well deserved award for the ship and the crew . And yes - Cracking beards !
