Naval stories set in the age of sail always remind me how good I had it during my service.
What makes these stories more exceptional is the fact they had no safety briefing, no safety vests, no hard hats and the horror! No OSHA !!!
C. S. Forrester would be proud .
And no Democrats caterwauling about poor living conditions aboard.
Not to mention no reflective belts! The humanity…
Going up on the yards at 1 a.m. in a gale was a real test of character. They were probably counting their lucky stars it wasn't frozen.
Yards on failing and broken masts...
Another ripping yarn. Did the crew get an extra tot?
Wooden ships. Iron men.
