Watching the speech two things struck me: Those brits produce excellent general officer speakers - it's not just the accent, it was well put together and well delivered. I've never seen anything by General McConville so I can't compare and contrast with the flag side of the US Army. This speech was never anywhere close to putting me to sleep, a notable observation.
Second, aside from the noted single nod to the church of holy mother gaia, this was remarkably clear of chaff. Impressive.
Not knowing exactly what the "laddish" bit was about, I had to go look up their TEAMWORK initiative to confirm it was as claimed nothing wokish, and it looks to be about bullying and hazing and such - actual team building stuff, though they did do a full-day stand down for it under the last GBR Army Chief of the General Staff.
