Full Roman was A10 pilots phrase. It might engender Masada for you, but for me it was Gibbons. Something like:

Israel has had relative peace since '73 because everybody feared the IDF. To some extent that changed,

- the border can be beaten

- iron dome can be beaten

I expect that the IDF will not hold back in its necessary need to reestablish its Alpha status and seek absolution for its failure from the Israeli people.

I weep thinking of my own daughters and the anguish of those families of people who were killed and were/are being abused, tortured, raped and face death. I have no countenance for anyone making any counter argument about matters that might have been debatable on Friday and are no longer contestable or supportable today. This is what liberals have purchased with their support of Hamas, Hezbollah, the PLA - for DECADES. For waffeling and appeasing Iran. For a whole host of idiotic foreign policy decisions and positions that brought us to this pass.

It is time for the idiocy to stop. It is time to stop just rolling our eyes as the left goes down this path heedless of warnings. We can not let this continue here - or it will be there. There are people that have crossed our border - even today - that we don't know about or know nothing about their intentions. If, as reported, they plan attacks over the next 14 months in major cities, this catastrophe is laid firmly at the feet of Dems and their policies here and abroad.

It is time to stop coddling this leftist, progressive, socialist mindset that perpetuates all of this. We must fight the ideological battle to get back to a culture and policy that enables us to prevent these types of conditions, or at least gives us a much better chance to defend ourselves.

It remains to be seen how far Israel is willing to go against Hamas. Civilized cultures may not be strong enough to eradicate the culture of death that has been allowed to fester and indeed, flourish in Gaza. Where to send them is a huge problem; the West Bank, Egypt, Jordan, and all the other Arab States will not take them. As to how far Israel is willing to go, at this point, I don't think Israel needs to entertain the idea of a proportional response. I'm no bleeding heart. Israel should have deported the lot of them to Jordan and Syria, forcefully, after '73. In my book, if you go picking a fight, launching a multi-nation invasion of a small country, and then get your ass kicked, any land you lost in the process is too bad, so sad.

But there are lines we don't cross, or we become just as bad as the animals we despise.

Wipe out Hamas, but don't be so quick to preach genocidal solutions.

I was a Marine Infantry officer, and then a GRS specialist at 'the Agency' (and no, this isn't even close to my real name).

I've been up close and personal with those with the knives, and seen the best and the worst they have to offer.

I've walked the streets and alley's of the Souks in Tripoli, Amman and many other cities of that region. Alone.

And if I were a younger man, with less responsibilities at home, I'd still be over there, because those were the absolute best moments of my life.

I have a large family, and I cherish my children. I love God and honor Him.

I KNOW I do not have the right to pass judgement on an entire people and engage in wanton slaughter simply because to do otherwise would be to invite risk.

Deliberate killing of innocents is wrong.

Collateral damage deaths of innocents as a result of attacks on legitimate targets are regrettable, but the price of waging war. Hamas initiated the war, violating every precept of the laws of war, and blood of their friends and families are on their hands when retribution comes.

Huge difference between murdering festival goers in cold blood, and the mercy being shown by Israel warning Gaza civilians to get out of town because there will be massive attacks and they may suffer if they remain.

Yup, but who is at fault for that? The child, or the parent who raised that child to act that way.

Either we as a society have hard and firm lines we will not cross (Children are innocent and will not be murdered) or we are on the absolute moral slippery slope to hell.

That little girl will probably grow up to be a hate-filled adult, but 'Vengeance is Mine' says The Lord.

It is not for me or you to pre-judge that child, and until she is an adult, she is innocent as no child can have the moral culpability.

Hammer Hamas, occupy Gaza, but there must be lines we don't cross, or we are no better than the monsters we oppose.

Prejudge? I don't judge that child any differently I would a baby scorpion I found in my house. Occupy Gaza? Hey, I'm all for a HEAVY military response, my reply above is specifically directed at @Billy, who in his posts has all but endorsed the wholesale slaughter and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

I KNOW the Palestinians brought this on themselves. Israel should have forcibly deported them all 50 years ago.

But there IS a difference between collateral damage when striking legitimate military targets with human shields, and walking in and murdering children.

Billy is preaching slaughter, the absolute moral equivalency to Hamas themselves.

I'm advocating for Israel to re-take, re-occupy, and pacify (harshly) the Gaza strip.

But maintaining the moral high ground DOES mean that at times your enemy will have some advantages.

How about start by giving Israeli's a 2nd amendment style right, make every Kibutz near Gaza a fortified camp, re-build and strengthen the Gaza wall, and emplace a 'DMZ-like' minefield barrier (on the Gazan side, no need for Israeli's to lose land for this).

The occupy Gaza and imprison anyone over the age of 17 who engages in any militant action, while getting the international community to fund relocating any Gazans who will move to other Arab nations.

Peaceful, voluntary relocation with benefits for those who will move, open-air prison for the hatemongers who remain.

But no genocidal murder of children. Yes, there are some lines I will not cross - ever.

Expand full comment

There's no pacifying the Gaza strip, haven't you learned anything from the last 50 years?

The open air prison didn't work, neither did imprisonment or limited military actions. No matter what, when given an opportunity the Palestinians will go to the Israelis' throat.

Warfare at its base, primitive form. Like the rape of the Sabine women. There can be no outrage at horrific crimes and atrocities committed by Hamas in the Islamic world, because they accept this behavior as normal and justified. It is not. Hamas is not trying to occupy Israel. Their motives are designed to keep them relevant. They have grossly underestimated their position and Israel will respond like they have always done, they will eradicate rhe threat and make Gaza uninhabitable. As they should. You cannot negotiate with a scorpion.

The atrocities are not even fully known. Hamas terrorists captured Israeli soldiers and literally decapitated and streamed their deaths on social media.

Israel, like the United States has been seduced by liberalism and wokeism and has let her guard down while fighting amongst themselves as to which policy is better: conservativism or liberalism. It has infected their culture and has led to a false sense of security or hubris while “trying to get along”. Hamas, like the Italian proverb: “is given a finger but takes hand”…
