I think it is interesting that in a poll I read last week..it stated that only 40% of progressive democrats would stand against a foreign invasion as opposed to 80% of Republicans..
In contrast, Hamas certainly thinks in terms of what kind of war is necessary to exterminate Israel. Indeed, it's in their charter... Death to every "settler."
Yeah, funny how the Muslim members of Congress are all anti-2A Democrats. After hearing the reports of Hamas rounding up and either killing of imprisoning Israelis AND Hillary’s comments about “re-education” camps for her political enemies, is it too soon for us to say, “Never Again”?
The phrase “going full Roman” comes to mind. Everyone’s eyes will be focused on Gaza but I think Israel’s senior leadership, political and military, are intently focused on taking the fight to the mullahs, up close and (very) personal.
Full Roman was A10 pilots phrase. It might engender Masada for you, but for me it was Gibbons. Something like:
"a Roman citizen could walk the length of the Empire, cloaked only in his citizenship, knowing his person was inviolate. For if he were harmed, a Legion would return."
In my minds eye, I see a line of bandits on crosses lining the Roman way.
Feel compelled to comment as I go. If I read the entirety, I'd forget what I was going to say. But, nice to know many of us think alike, even if it mocks diversity.
Hamas needs to be ripped out of Gaza, including the roots. In previous cases, the presence of hostages as seemed to freeze Israeli response. I have no idea about this time. If it were me, I'd be in a door kicking mode.
"Hamas delenda est"
Israel has had relative peace since '73 because everybody feared the IDF. To some extent that changed,
- the border can be beaten
- iron dome can be beaten
I expect that the IDF will not hold back in its necessary need to reestablish its Alpha status and seek absolution for its failure from the Israeli people.
Not a good time to be in Gaza
PS: note the top Hamas guys happened to be in Qatar. Lucky them. Israel needs to PsyOp the heck out of that
Outstanding. (It is truly remarkable how blase' way too many Americans (or non-Americans here in the US) have been about this (not to mention the depraved who rationalize it or, worse yet, champion it).
I weep thinking of my own daughters and the anguish of those families of people who were killed and were/are being abused, tortured, raped and face death. I have no countenance for anyone making any counter argument about matters that might have been debatable on Friday and are no longer contestable or supportable today. This is what liberals have purchased with their support of Hamas, Hezbollah, the PLA - for DECADES. For waffeling and appeasing Iran. For a whole host of idiotic foreign policy decisions and positions that brought us to this pass.
It is time for the idiocy to stop. It is time to stop just rolling our eyes as the left goes down this path heedless of warnings. We can not let this continue here - or it will be there. There are people that have crossed our border - even today - that we don't know about or know nothing about their intentions. If, as reported, they plan attacks over the next 14 months in major cities, this catastrophe is laid firmly at the feet of Dems and their policies here and abroad.
It is time to stop coddling this leftist, progressive, socialist mindset that perpetuates all of this. We must fight the ideological battle to get back to a culture and policy that enables us to prevent these types of conditions, or at least gives us a much better chance to defend ourselves.
Nope, I don't realize that. The fact he released the money made it a gift. The ayatollah probably offered "the big guy" a cut, and maybe Hunter a job making hundreds of thousands a month...
Well you should. That’s the problem with you so-called “conservatives” your whole ideology is based on propaganda and lies. (1) It’s not a “gift” to return money you took. (2) The US put strings on the money, and never turned it over. (3) Iran’s recent misconduct caused the Biden administration to lock it down.
Hunter, Hunter, Hunter! What a load of bullshit. We’ve got Trump and his son-in-law taking billions from the folks behind 9/11. You Hypocrites are fine with that. You don’t care about corrupt folks taking money from foreign governments when they’re on your team.
It remains to be seen how far Israel is willing to go against Hamas. Civilized cultures may not be strong enough to eradicate the culture of death that has been allowed to fester and indeed, flourish in Gaza. Where to send them is a huge problem; the West Bank, Egypt, Jordan, and all the other Arab States will not take them. Watch as those actually pulling the strings (Iran, Russia, China) posture and pontificate about what to do. Not to mention various political "influencers" in the west and United States. A medieval solution may be called for, but the will to carry it out lacking.
Good call. Take the bad boys in and drops them on the coast of Somalia. Everything going into Gaza must be inspected. And for the US the need for a wall becomes all the more obvious.
As to how far Israel is willing to go, at this point, I don't think Israel needs to entertain the idea of a proportional response. Hamas is doing the business of genocide and adding in wanton cruelties and atrocities against non-combatant civilians. Lopping heads off, murdering children & women, raping because they are sexually frustrated and their interpretation is that Allah smiles on it (He doesn't) all militate for an exponential response to excise this cancer. Smite them a heavy blow, Israel.
While I am all for wiping Hamas off the map, no child is guilty of the crimes of it's parent.
You gonna step up and pull the trigger on those kids in Gaza?
If so, your no better than the POS animals who did this to the Israeli's.
I'm no bleeding heart. Israel should have deported the lot of them to Jordan and Syria, forcefully, after '73. In my book, if you go picking a fight, launching a multi-nation invasion of a small country, and then get your ass kicked, any land you lost in the process is too bad, so sad.
But there are lines we don't cross, or we become just as bad as the animals we despise.
Wipe out Hamas, but don't be so quick to preach genocidal solutions.
I read a quote this morning attributed to Golda Meir that goes, “We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children, but we can not forgive them for forcing us to kill their children”. I haven’t checked it out to see if she actually said that, but it seems to fit.
I'm not going to make specific assumptions about your background, but most on here are Navy.
I recognize and honor your service, but few of you ever get real close and personal with the enemy (With obvious exception for my Trident wearing brothers - if this is not accurate for you, then so be it)
I was a Marine Infantry officer, and then a GRS specialist at 'the Agency' (and no, this isn't even close to my real name).
I've been up close and personal with those with the knives, and seen the best and the worst they have to offer.
I've walked the streets and alley's of the Souks in Tripoli, Amman and many other cities of that region. Alone.
And if I were a younger man, with less responsibilities at home, I'd still be over there, because those were the absolute best moments of my life.
I have a large family, and I cherish my children. I love God and honor Him.
I KNOW I do not have the right to pass judgement on an entire people and engage in wanton slaughter simply because to do otherwise would be to invite risk.
Your mentality is the exact same thing that brought us the Patriot Act after 9-11. Ie.. ignorant Conservatives allowing for more government power to 'keep everyone safe from everything'.
You REAK of Fear. I can smell it dripping from your pores through the keyboard.
And in your fear and hate, you would become the very monster you seek to destroy.
I may die. I've been at peace with that since the first time my boot hit sand.
But I won't sell my soul for convenience or ease or 'safety'.
Collateral damage deaths of innocents as a result of attacks on legitimate targets are regrettable, but the price of waging war. Hamas initiated the war, violating every precept of the laws of war, and blood of their friends and families are on their hands when retribution comes.
Huge difference between murdering festival goers in cold blood, and the mercy being shown by Israel warning Gaza civilians to get out of town because there will be massive attacks and they may suffer if they remain.
Agreed, and I accept that as a necessary cost imposed upon Israel by Hamas and Iran.
My response was specifically to @Billy who seems to be advocating for the ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinians, which makes him no better than the Hamas thugs he claims to hate.
Agreed, and I accept that as a necessary cost imposed upon Israel by Hamas and Iran.
My response was specifically to @Billy who seems to be advocating for the ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinians, which makes him no better than the Hamas thugs he claims to hate.
Yup, but who is at fault for that? The child, or the parent who raised that child to act that way.
Either we as a society have hard and firm lines we will not cross (Children are innocent and will not be murdered) or we are on the absolute moral slippery slope to hell.
That little girl will probably grow up to be a hate-filled adult, but 'Vengeance is Mine' says The Lord.
It is not for me or you to pre-judge that child, and until she is an adult, she is innocent as no child can have the moral culpability.
Hammer Hamas, occupy Gaza, but there must be lines we don't cross, or we are no better than the monsters we oppose.
Prejudge? I don't judge that child any differently I would a baby scorpion I found in my house. Occupy Gaza? No. Starve it and blockade it until starvation and disease force an unconditional surrender. Find and flood what ever tunnels can be found. Sow mines on the Gaza side of the border with Egypt. Sink any ships that approach the coast of Gaza.
I have zero objection to Gaza ending up like Carthage.
Ok so how to do it? And what to do about their nationa status and at the UN. Or do keep drones up and plunk every building from which a msl, shell, or rocket comes from?
Hey, I'm all for a HEAVY military response, my reply above is specifically directed at @Billy, who in his posts has all but endorsed the wholesale slaughter and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.
I KNOW the Palestinians brought this on themselves. Israel should have forcibly deported them all 50 years ago.
But there IS a difference between collateral damage when striking legitimate military targets with human shields, and walking in and murdering children.
Billy is preaching slaughter, the absolute moral equivalency to Hamas themselves.
I'm advocating for Israel to re-take, re-occupy, and pacify (harshly) the Gaza strip.
But maintaining the moral high ground DOES mean that at times your enemy will have some advantages.
How about start by giving Israeli's a 2nd amendment style right, make every Kibutz near Gaza a fortified camp, re-build and strengthen the Gaza wall, and emplace a 'DMZ-like' minefield barrier (on the Gazan side, no need for Israeli's to lose land for this).
The occupy Gaza and imprison anyone over the age of 17 who engages in any militant action, while getting the international community to fund relocating any Gazans who will move to other Arab nations.
Peaceful, voluntary relocation with benefits for those who will move, open-air prison for the hatemongers who remain.
But no genocidal murder of children. Yes, there are some lines I will not cross - ever.
There's no pacifying the Gaza strip, haven't you learned anything from the last 50 years?
The open air prison didn't work, neither did imprisonment or limited military actions. No matter what, when given an opportunity the Palestinians will go to the Israelis' throat.
Warfare at its base, primitive form. Like the rape of the Sabine women. There can be no outrage at horrific crimes and atrocities committed by Hamas in the Islamic world, because they accept this behavior as normal and justified. It is not. Hamas is not trying to occupy Israel. Their motives are designed to keep them relevant. They have grossly underestimated their position and Israel will respond like they have always done, they will eradicate rhe threat and make Gaza uninhabitable. As they should. You cannot negotiate with a scorpion.
The atrocities are not even fully known. Hamas terrorists captured Israeli soldiers and literally decapitated and streamed their deaths on social media.
Israel, like the United States has been seduced by liberalism and wokeism and has let her guard down while fighting amongst themselves as to which policy is better: conservativism or liberalism. It has infected their culture and has led to a false sense of security or hubris while “trying to get along”. Hamas, like the Italian proverb: “is given a finger but takes hand”…
Israel will fix its Intelligence and surveillance failures and the gates of hell will be filled with Hamas.
"Israel will fix its Intelligence and surveillance failures"
Perhaps, but I see nothing to indicate the United States will. Despite a million military aged men of largely unknown provenance invading over the past couple years, our priority is on Domestic MAGA extremists.
We should not be surprised to see significant attacks in our cities and large gatherings in the next year or two, and our treasonous government will use them to attempt to disarm the American people.
I suspect that those million military age men, even if they don't really have a political agenda now, are going to wake up in a few years, still unemployed and with slim future prospects, to realize the well of freebies in the social safety net is running dry and they are going to be very angry that they have been denied the American Dream by racist, xenophobic American citizens who are barring them from inclusivity. 1,000,000 is a big number.
Bread & circuses are a finite resource. It galls me that pols love giving away other people's stuff and then act surprised when the spigot begins to run dry.
Maybe that multi-culture thing wasn't such a good idea. May be worth it if it causes an immigration moratorium and the deportation of all foreign nationals.
The chief problem is that the denizens of DC never have to answer for their actions. If I were the Governor of Texas, I’d ship as many illegals to Lafayette Park as possible. Let the White House staff deal with their failures up close and personal.
But the Governor of TX is part of the problem. If I were him, I'd start shooting them as they cross the Rio Grande... that might send a lessage to the others. Alas, we don't live in a world where that would be tolerated anymore so we will go the way of Neanderthal.
"Land for peace". Some "peace". Take the land back and exterminate Hamas.
Should have solved it at 120,000. No worries, the world can spare 2.5M Palestianians.
When you put it that way...
I think it is interesting that in a poll I read last week..it stated that only 40% of progressive democrats would stand against a foreign invasion as opposed to 80% of Republicans..
That poll was last year and Newsweek of all people fact checked it. Often, polls have their own agenda. https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-poll-democrats-fight-us-invaded-1691492
The fact that it's more than 10% for either party is disturbing.
If the gun lobby called me for a poll I might give a pissy answer.
You mean, " sissy"?
I am a black, latinx female lesbian small business owner disabled veteran on robopolls.
Are we even capable of thinking in terms of the war necessary to destroy enemies like Hamas?
In contrast, Hamas certainly thinks in terms of what kind of war is necessary to exterminate Israel. Indeed, it's in their charter... Death to every "settler."
ANTIFA summer of love 2020 in Portland
One thing for sure. The US public is well armed and would have responded.
Hillary was just revealing her inner totalitarian self. We have to suffer because of the way her sleazy husband treated her.
Israel cannot allow Hamas to be part of the equation once this war is complete. Attacks like this embolden Jihads all around the world.
Israel cannot allow Palestinians to be part of the equation once this war is complete.
There, I fixed it.
Thank you.
Hanas must be eradicated from the face of the earth wherever they naybe.
Palestinians must be eradicated from the face of the earth wherever they may be.
There, I fixed it.
Handle it like Fallujah but the second time.
Nah, no need to send troops in. Firebomb it.
Try out the new robots in the first wave. Like lays potato chips, just make more. ROE would be anything carrying a weapon gets wasted.
The phrase “going full Roman” comes to mind. Everyone’s eyes will be focused on Gaza but I think Israel’s senior leadership, political and military, are intently focused on taking the fight to the mullahs, up close and (very) personal.
post Munich style
I think the more proper reference for going Roman here would be Masada.
Yeah, Gibbons is unfortunately not primary source material. Josephus Flavius was the man on the scene with quill to paper.
That was Rome at its zenith, not during the slide into the Dark Ages.

Thanks CDR - you summed up what many of us are thinking.
Absolutely
May God protect Israel and allow Israelis prevail.

I have a feeling being in Qatar will not save the Hamas leadership. Like the Nazis in times past, they will eventually be tracked down and dealt with.
I was thinking more Post Munich Olympic style rather than an Eichmann show trial
Very possible they don't make it to trial.
Qatar is one of those 'under the radar' small, sleazy countries. They 'host' a lot of crap via their banking and ports (ship-to-ship) transfers.
But hey, they host the U.S. Udeid Airbase... so all good.
Gaza's roots = Gaza's residents
Let's be quite clear eyed here.
Yes.
Gaza delenda est.
"Lucky them."
On the other hand, Qatar is probably easier to infiltrate and exfiltrate than Gaza.
And Munich them now.
CDR Sal,
Outstanding. (It is truly remarkable how blase' way too many Americans (or non-Americans here in the US) have been about this (not to mention the depraved who rationalize it or, worse yet, champion it).

Joe Biden's gift of 6 billion dollars went along way to support the terrorist/killers.
That wad in addition to surrendering Afghanistan.
Nice catch Tex. Excellent point.
I’m hoping by now you realize that the idea “Biden gave 6 billion” is a lie being spread by propagandaists.
I vote for this destination: shallow graves.
"A shallow grave in the piney woods", a Southern tradition. But in this case, leave it to the buzzards.
And paint some pig blood on them where you find them.
Sudan or Somalia would make a good home land for them.
You can't co-exist with a people devoted to wiping you off the map. It's not a problem you can manage, negotiate or talk through.
It can be resolved only with fire.

Wipe out Hamas, but don't be so quick to preach genocidal solutions.
As long as there are lines you won't cross, you'll have these problems.
I'm not as cruel to that child as you are. You prefer to condemned them to a lifetime of misery, I would spare them that.
I read a quote this morning attributed to Golda Meir that goes, “We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children, but we can not forgive them for forcing us to kill their children”. I haven’t checked it out to see if she actually said that, but it seems to fit.
Golda also famously said "We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate the Jews."
sounds like a ringing endorsement for the pro-abortion crowd.
Killing children to save them from suffering.
Think the Soviets, Nazi's, Khmer Rouge, CCP, and many others including Hamas have made similar arguments.
You want to associate with that way of thinking, you go right ahead.
I'm willing to entertain a certain degree of risk to myself rather than sell my soul simply to be 'safer'.

Hamas condemns those children to a life of poverty, brutality, and possible brainwashing into evil.
Better a few of them die accidentally in collateral damage as part of the effort to spare the rest of them the same vile fate.

Rome found how that goes in 470…
Bread & circuses are a finite resource. It galls me that pols love giving away other people's stuff and then act surprised when the spigot begins to run dry.
Concur. We are next. The threat vectors are:
-200,000 plus suspected PLA “migrants” who crossed our border
- sleeper cells of Hamas
- sleeper cells of Hezbollah (acts as autocorrect now in typing)
- sleeper cells of IRGC (remember the attack on Captain Rogers wife and children? Pepperidge farms remembers)
- sleeper cells of Venezuelan and Mexican and Guatemalan Cartel gangs.
We are going to be next.
When the cells get activated here in the states, the border crossers will be engaged and stopped.
Sad it has to come reactionary instead of proactively
