Personnel is policy. New SecDef choice is crucial...will we get a reformer or just another retired flag / professional keptocrat determined to maintain the status quo and and maximize his / her time at the trough. OBTW, the new Senate majority leader is just as important, as a poor decision there (senior senator from Texas?) could negate the progress a results minded reformer might bring about. Will need congress to at least assent to changing the bureaucracy and not obstruct accountability and hire / fire changes critical to an improved results oriented process. Completing the trifecta and changing the DoD acquisition bureaucracy will possibly be the most difficult. That's why getting the right people in place in the government parts of the "Iron Triangle" of DoD, Congress and the Military Industrial Complex (TM) have to happen for anything to actually, you know, happen.

I put the Midrats podcasts on my tickler list but get sidetracked too easily. First time to attend as a listener. Enjoyed it. Found that I can multitask while listening, did a crossword puzzle. What's not to like about this format?

I have no idea how this will turn out, but RFK JR has set up a website to take nominations for the 4000+ Federal government positions. Still, I'm willing to chip in a case of Col. E.H. Taylor Kentucky Bourbon to get Mr. T's Haircut in the Asst. Sec Def for Indo-Pacific appointment. https://x.com/RobertKennedyJr/status/1853098526202298570

Mr. T might happier if given a boarding ax and an ROE with some flexibility in it for people of virtue and good judgement to "do good work". But I am sure he'd go serve wherever sent.

I am all for new, better uses for LCS, but Himars or Mk 70 on the helo deck aren't it.

LCS-2 865 DWT

Mariner/Ranger/Vanguard 318-396 SWT

We don't need a 700 million dollar ship for what is being discussed.

If the USN is to ever get better leverage with the new Administration and Congress, then it needs 'Navalists' who do not openly advertise that the people in these institutions are stupid criminals -monsters even- as far as they are concerned. And that the 75+ million citizens who voted this cycle for the new Administrative and Legislative branches are immoral damaged retards.

To those folks who think that way. Just retire and stay on your farm. You are not helping the Navy at all...

No matter how brilliant you believe you may be.

There are many cancerous agents that must be removed from every American Institution. We either know or can easily discover who those people are. Those that have damaged our country and institutions so gravely will not be allowed to leave without penalty.

Perhaps not shouting from the rooftops what we are going to do, but doing what we have to do are non-discretionary actions. No pardons, no winks & nods, or slaps on the hand for the guilty ones- they must be excised from the organizations and prevented from being in any position to harm America again. Prison time as appropropriate. All security clearances permanently revoked.
