I don’t think I need to go on a long post about what we have all watched in the events after the attempted assassination of former President Trump last weekend.
What I’d like to do is steal the timeline that Collin Rugg put together along with some Fern from YT visuals at the bottom.
Before you do that, I want to remind you of this quote from the last few days from Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.
In an interview with ABC News, Cheatle said: “That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof.” She added “the decision was made to secure the building from inside.”
You don’t have to have a military or law enforcement, or construction and home improvement for that matter, background to see - especially coming from someone with her experience - that this is either a demonstration of gross incompetence in her profession’s tradecraft, or a bold-faced lie told to the face of the world. -
Read her quote again, look at the timeline and visuals below with a focus on the slope of the roof the actual white-hat snipers were on.
Again, from Collin as linked above;
Thomas Crooks was shot dead 26 seconds after he let off his first shot on Donald Trump at his rally.
The details which were made during a briefing with the FBI, say sn*pers first spotted Crooks on *the roof* at 5:52 p.m., 20 minutes before the first shot.
11 seconds after the first shot which happened at 6:12 p.m., sn*pers located Crooks.
15 seconds later, Crooks was shot dead according to ABC News.
Timeline:
5:10 p.m. Crooks first identified as a person of interest.
5:30 p.m. Crooks spotted with a rangefinder.
5:52 p.m. Crooks spotted on the roof by USSS.
6:02 p.m. Trump takes the stage.
6:12 p.m. Crooks fires first shots.
Crooks k*lled 26 seconds later.
With all the above going on, in one of the more gobsmackingly public displays of … I don’t know how to put in words the mindset that says, “Yeah, this is a good idea.”, Director Cheatle decided she’d walk the floor of the Republican National Convention.
I’m not sure what is going on here, but we just had a bold-underline datapoint that any remaining conceit that we have The Best People™ running our most important institutions, with The Best Staff Officers™ blessed with a top-shelf Corporate Culture™ should be thrown in the dustbin.
Just … look at it all. We are past the point of comfortable reform at the federal government level. We need mindset towards reforms along the lines of what is going on in Argentina.
People, please. Don't assign to malice or conspiracy what is better understood as gross incompetence.
Never forget: we still have an Upper-Paleolithic brain of a hunter-gatherer that is hard wired to look for patterns and connections - even where there are not clear indication of one. It is the only way you can track game, understand migrations, find water, and know what is ripe, where.
Our brain is always, and without prompting, looking for patterns and explanations for events. The key is to use your higher brain functions to counter your brain stem autorun programs when they are wrong.
Our government is not run by The Smartest People in the Room™, nor the most qualified people. Once you understand that fact, much of what you see makes a lot more sense.
Yes. I found the "Sloped Roof" rationale ridiculous---there are pictures of FBI people using a hose on that roof today to clean up the mess. As to the rest--well, when you put DEI ahead of competence and ability to do the job, you get results like this. This "Administration" may eventually throw her under the bus as a scapegoat, but their instincts are to pander to their various constituencies above all. Change: The sooner the better.
