I already had some exposure to communism through my service in Vietnam as a Marine, plus additional education as a teen and more after my service. She is strongly anti-illegal alien, believes in strong and defended borders, and is rabidly anti-communist. She has nothing nice to say about the Castro family (in two languages). Free medical care? You betcha. Good free medical care. Nope. Plenty to eat? Nope. Mandatory unpaid work in cane fields even for four year old kids? Yep, plenty of that. And more.

I think the most salient points, though, are not about Cuba and its fate/outcome as much as the direct links to their espionage and warfare in the US and the connection to the modern left. It clarifies who they are, what they want, and what their mission has always been in terms of OUR country. As much as we want to convert and rehabilitate Cuba, it is more important we identify this in our own political ecosystem, define it for all to see, call out their purpose, and eliminate it. Look, it's not TDS. And thanks for making my case that pointing out the obvious has to be derangement by the enemy and dismissed out of hand. It's entirely possible to endorse something or everything Trump has done and still admit that the man hasn't passed a single day in office without publicly insulting SOMEONE. This is a military blog, so we're mostly on the same page. But out there a very large part of the population wouldn't believe this administration if they said the sky was blue. This report is going to be dismissed as them trying to distract from a debacle of an Iran war, or a convenient excuse to start another war with Cuba--I can see the headlines already. I'm not talking about our military kids, but the young generation is regarding Republicans as loathsome, Democrats as ridiculously ineffectual, both parties as irredeemably corrupt, and "democratic socialism" as a valid option to both. Those leftists running that circus see it as their time, and this is just as much a real danger to the Republic as northerners and southerners abandoning the ballot box and political debate and instead turning to regarding each other as the enemy in 1860. All of us who swore an oath to the Constitution need to get on board with the fact that the founders designed our system for political disagreement and debate, not political war that has to be won at all cost.

It is an obviously biased opinion based on your perceptions and evident antipathy...as you go on to reinforce in your response. The part of the population you speak about has been the very target, and victim, of the very deception operation from the left that we are discussing. That Trump responds to them with discourteous remarks when they have tried to unconstitutionally jail him, perverted the legal system to do so, and daily call him some variation of a Nazi, racist, whatever isn't remarkable. In fact, it is part of the reason he got elected because everybody was tired of such abuse of W. Bush while Rove counseled him to ignore it and be "above it all". Well, that fire is not just directed at Bush or Trump - it is directed at supporters, too. And rhetorical defense from leaders, as harsh as it may be, is needed...you have to fight.
There is no way you can be gentlemanly and deal with the people we are talking about, and the brainwashed people who allow them to continue to flourish by ignoring the very history and motivations that are listed in the article.
The very media circus you describe is why it must to rooted out - and they'll complain just the same, make all the same arguments, while you do it. If you are going to succumb and give up because of THAT there is no hope that it will be ended.

The reason the "population wouldn't believe this administration if they said the sky was blue," is because of the constant barrage of outright lies. Look at this bullshit war we are in. They are even lying to us about the casulties.
It appears that mainland Cuba is slowly being contained by a combination of political action by this administration and the weight of their own incompetence. Regrettably we are unable to contain the legion of useful idiots that carry US citizenship that will rescue them if given the opportunity. Like Biden taking the Houthi off the terrorist list, the next Democratic Administration will provide succor. Another cycle of rinse and repeat.

I think the most salient points, though, are not about Cuba and its fate/outcome as much as the direct links to their espionage and warfare in the US and the connection to the modern left. It clarifies who they are, what they want, and what their mission has always been in terms of OUR country. As much as we want to convert and rehabilitate Cuba, it is more important we identify this in our own political ecosystem, define it for all to see, call out their purpose, and eliminate it. They are, fundamentally, anti-American - violating the prohibitions against treason - and no amount of obfuscation from the left and appeals to "dissent" or using our democratic/judicial system against us.
