Congressional Republicans have a longstanding habit of making loud Trumpian noises for the cameras and for the fundraising emails, but when it comes time to codify Trump's executive orders, they suddenly busy themselves elsewhere.
Yes, that was kind of an absurd statement to follow the proposed idea: "DEI advocates often framed their initiatives as necessary to attract female and nonwhite recruits. Today’s evidence contradicts that self-serving view."
"Between 2013 and 2023, annual male enlistments in the Army fell 35%, from 58,000 to 37,700. From 2018 to 2023 the number of white Army recruits dropped from 44,042 to 25,070."
I want to see a breakdown of the numbers pre-2020 and post 2020, because those time frames start before the Biden administration's massive DEI push. Was there a decline before Biden? If there was, did the DEI push accelerate it? The numbers given here don't answer those rather crucial questions.
At my last fedgov position before I retired we had a Boko Haram disciple that was exalted for his culture yet he had been terminated previously because he couldn't find his backside with two hands.
He played the race card multiple times and was in a managerial position when I put in my paperwork with OPM.
Joe Biden? Both his enemies and his supposed allies alike, they did that man dirty. He came out of retirement to run even though he knew he was too old. He did his best. People called him senile and sleepy joe.
Now we have a megalomaniacal lunatic in office who falls asleep on a regular basis in meetings, and recently just stood up to look out of the window… probably to fart.
When you compare what he did while in office to what’s happening in the USA now, and after everyone dragged his name through the shit, we should be flooding him with positive vibes before he dies.
Yes, we are, and that description of the Renee Good shooting is equivalent to describing the Ashli Babbit shooting as "a visitor to the Capitol was killed by the police."
Oh Tom, what part of "Illegal alien" don't you understand?
Our perhaps you like the subsidized dilution of our educational and welfare systems to support brood parasites.
And perhaps if this poor tool hadn't panicked after deliberately interfering with law enforcement (or had not been there in the first place.) she'd be alive.
But don't worry, I'm sure well intentioned people said the same thing as you when the black shirts were initially killed by cops in Italy.
Leftists say undocumented migrants. They will never say illegal alien. They want to control the language in order to control the thinking. Old communist trick.
I bet that mom's kids are glad. She let her lover/wife put out cigarettes in their arms before the courts had to intervene. Someone tried that with my kids, the cigarette would have been put out in their eyeball. It was lover/wife who was urging that mom to hit the gas, by the way. We'll see how much that Go Fund Me nets her. Violence by proxy is a thing.
The main point is that the return should be to merit-based, all-inclusive system. And not merely to the "they promoted black gay females, so we must promote white straight males just to be opposite". The true system should view merit as only deicisve criteria of promotion; NOT the belonging to some group or adherence to some unrelated standards.
Up vote, but the issues are tiny bit more nuanced than that. The pool of some available minorities is actually large. In others it's very small. The previous system basically cherry picked certain quotas from less qualified groups and would not allow others to be recruited for those quotas.
"they promoted black gay females, so we must promote white straight males just to be opposite"
Nobody is saying that. However, we are trying to get away from 40 years of "they promoted straight white males, so we must promote black gay females just to be opposite" which is exactly what DEI turned out to be, despite the lack of nuance on why straight white males were prevalent (and while I admit there were issues after WW2 into the 70s, things were getting better very year from 65 until 2008.
Somewhere, I believe the job market factors into the recent success. In the late 80s, during an oil industry crunch, recruiters near the TX-LA coast could consistently put more than 100% of monthly goal on the bus to boot camp. Policy matters, but if the plant has been closed in your town, the military looks better than before.
Yup, Sal.. And let’s just do some math. America suffered through a lost decade (or more), each year during which many tens of thousands of white males didn’t take the military option of early life. That’s a lot of talent that never walked in the door. Many opportunities lost, to individuals, the collective mil services and to society then, now, and far into the future.
Sure, the no-shows went and did something else cuz it’s a free country. But keep in mind that most didn’t go to “elite” skools or corporate America either, cuz academe and Big Business were all discriminating against the same demographic.
DEI was a toxic, crackpot sociological experiment that weakened and degraded the nation. Its effects will play out over generations. It was bad enough in its moment of time, and now transforms into an ongoing, legacy stain, scar and historic loss to the Republic.
As I said before, the original idea of DEI was merely to weaken the barriers against hiring womens/peoples of color/gays that at that moment were still relatively widespread. Those initial goals were reasonable, and were actually achieved. But instead of shutting down the program as soon as it achieved desired results, the Democratic leadership started to view it as means of socio-political influence.
In short - it's not that DEI that was bad, it was not shutting DEI down as soon as the basic goals were achieved was bad.
Tearing down the barriers was a false flag used to fool people. It was or very soon became all about quotas. If you are a bureaucrat what is easier to measure - the height of some theoretical barrier or the number of people in a particular category?
True, because peoples have an unfortunate ability to turn every good idea into bad one. Still, if you looks retrospectively, the reluctance of buisness & government officials to hire womens/peoples of color/gays declined very significantly in last two decades. Of course, correlation does not imply causation; was it's the effect of DEI or some other process need to be proven.
I don't think anyone would argue against opening the meritocracy to minority men, perhaps even gay men if it's an ancillary attribute and not a definition of their existence. On balance, however, in some fields the introduction of women into combat arms (infantry, armor, artillery, etc.) has been a huge waste of money and demonstrably degrades capability.
This has been a slide decades in the making based upon the actions and inactions of those in Congress and the Whitehouse, and of both parties. The last year has shown promise but the roots have been fertilized, grown, and gone deep. Until I see chips flying from the stump grinder, I will not be suggesting any of the uniformed services to the youth.
I used to think the term "shipmate" was corny when I joined. Might have sounded corny at first, me being prudish and standoffish at 17, but I grew to value the term.
Thursday morning, I salute my Shipmates asking for a deep dive … “DEI”… I’ve got your back!
Please allow me to share what I saw on Tuesday at NEX, Annapolis, Maryland; and what I saw Wednesday “my” AACC, Library, Arnold, Maryland.
Finally, allow me to say, to myself, “Well done”! JAG Corps appointment next Tuesday at Joint Base Andrews.
Allow me to share Wednesday, about 12:30 PM, our AACC “Military Affairs” room was open. Sign in book open. A place for me to enjoy “Quiet Time”.
I need that little space to quiet my mind . I had to accomplish my Physical Therapy goals, later Wednesday afternoon.
Accomplished on that Wednesday morning, two missions; two successful meetings with Ms Kelly and Mr Ryan. Hallelujah! Clerk Michael helped me to change my Criminal Evidence & Procedure, fifteen (15) week Law Course, to a “Graded Law Course”! SCOTUS Amy C.B. was top in her Law Class… I take my place somewhat below, at the floor level. Hoping to improve my standing!
On Tuesday, about 3:30 PM inside the NEX clothing store, near the Men’s section, I was aghast! Female women of “Color”, cautious not to specify, decked out as “Fashionista” with her Male counterpart, smiling looking for applause!
I had to “Think”… Yes, Annapolis Legislators have begun! Maryland has a one big ugly “Deficit”!
Reminds me of what I saw in Maggiano’s Annapolis Mall, 2023 - 2024, Credit Card “Color Black”, special card for people who can afford the fees, paying for liquor and food for more than fifteen (15) people of color at 3:30 that afternoon! The Maryland Legislature was in session!
Our Navy is the Best in this World for “Respect”! Thank you for reading my comment.
Our recruitment indeed was up!
We must keep our young and older Military, current Active, Reserve, or retired members, hopeful to believe in our American values! God bless my shipmates! Nurse Jane
During the 2020 campaign, a ‘stacker was gleefully posting his hopes that attendees of Trump rallies would catch Covid. I’m not certain of the timeline, but he was selected to serve on a board tasked with studying the future of the Navy. He was a rabid Biden/Harris supporter so it didn’t surprise me that one so hostile to the demographic that is most likely to enlist in the military would be chosen for that board.
I believe the far-left knew exactly what they were doing.
They were not interested in protecting America as we saw by the open Southern border.
They were trying to create an army that was loyal to a party and political ideology and what better way to get rid of all the irredeemable people who voted for Trump?
Comrade Trotsky would have been proud.
Camouflage your true intentions with noble worlds like diversity, equity and inclusion.
By the time people realized that diversity mean division; equity meant payback and they weren't included it would be too late.
America, not just Trump, dodged a bullet in Butler, Pa.
Everyone should be afraid of the "the man on the white horse."
American exceptionalism began with Geo. Washington. His walking away is what made America great. Ours, and the Glorious Revolution, were the only revolutions that did not end with Caesar. England had Cromwell, France begot Napoleon, Russia got Stalin, Spain was stuck with Franco, China got Mao.
To be fair, on that list, ours was the only rebellion that did not seek to eliminate the head of state, but only to secede (although I think Franco was originally trying to preserve the Monarchy in Spain; that was a messy one).
No arguments at all about Washington and American exceptionalism
A pernicious reinforcement of DEI comes when a person raised through a means other than merit or performance will embrace than means rather than merit or performance to gain further advancement
Congressional Republicans have a longstanding habit of making loud Trumpian noises for the cameras and for the fundraising emails, but when it comes time to codify Trump's executive orders, they suddenly busy themselves elsewhere.
You spelled Congressional Snakes wrong.
RINOs. Pretend Republicans who are actually democraps.
You can't trust them, where you know just what a democrat will do, they will do it legal or not. The GOP will stab their voters in the back.
But we have those choices, crap sandwich or douche nozzle.
I don't vote democrat anyway, I quit when they ran kerry for POTUS.
Had to Vote Bush "the douche nozzle" instead.
Actually I voted for the douche nozzle when Gore the greasy con man ran.
Encouragement to enlist increased among blacks (9 points), Hispanics (14 points), and women under 55 (15 points)....
Huh??
Yes, that was kind of an absurd statement to follow the proposed idea: "DEI advocates often framed their initiatives as necessary to attract female and nonwhite recruits. Today’s evidence contradicts that self-serving view."

Agree. A good year by year data set from as far back as one can go would likely be very revealing.
Are there records from the early days of all volunteer back in the 70s?
Was there a decline before Bidumb? Yes, from 2009 to 2016.
Interesting. Do you have numbers?
GROK can provide you with semi-precise numbers.
At my last fedgov position before I retired we had a Boko Haram disciple that was exalted for his culture yet he had been terminated previously because he couldn't find his backside with two hands.
He played the race card multiple times and was in a managerial position when I put in my paperwork with OPM.
DEI.....Didn't Earn It.!!!!!
Sleepy jo Brandon🧦 has a real problem with the truth and his rainbow ⚧️ DEI policies had a devastating effect😣 on our defense personnel.
I still have hope in hegseth vance and DJT. The house and senate? Not so much...

2022 Biden: Semi Fascists
2024 Biden: Garbage
2024 Walz: Fascists & Gestapo
2024 Kamala: Fascists
2024 Biden: Put a bulls eye on Trump
2025 Schumer: Bastards
2025 Schumer Take it to the streets
Why would you join when the CinC and other leaders disrespect you.
Do we live in alternate universes? In mine, actual fascists are shooting moms in the face.
Yes, we are, and that description of the Renee Good shooting is equivalent to describing the Ashli Babbit shooting as "a visitor to the Capitol was killed by the police."

I have.

I don't think it was panic; she just had absolutely no comprehension of the situation or possible consequences of her actions.
The mind boggles that absent a crime of passion a person could lack such basic critical thinking abilities.

That's not the real one.
"after everyone dragged his name through the shit"
Well, if he hadn't supplied all that shit himself he wouldn't have been dragged through it. By his works I shall judge him.

Are you referring to Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission?
Speaking of Canada, the Castreaus destroyed one of the greatest fighting forces in the world.
South Africa's, the one they did after apartheid. It was...rough.
Thank you.

No doubt true. But it's likely been that way for practically ever and in every place in the world.

Was that actually "DEI" or the initial program of affirmative action. Every DEI initiative I saw the past 20 years was far more Marxist in nature.
Some might make an argument that DEI was a toxic, [foreign directed attack using domestic useful idiots] that weakened and degraded the nation

Stalin allowed the NKVD to destroy the upper ranks of the Red Army
It also explains to me why Obama and his henchmen were so eager to destroy General Petraeus. Maybe, General Flynn, too.

brown set quotas. i thought that was racist? so confuse. so tires.
Brown complained the number of black aviators in the USAF dropped from 3% to 2%. I don't believe he had the capacity to question why.
i hated adding negative numbers. understandably confuse.
Fixed, and thank you.
I don’t care if an aviator is black or white as long as the MIGs and missiles are taken out.
