In a sane world, this would not be necessary, but as reported by our friend Kristina Wong, BZ to Sen. Wicker (R-MS) for putting this forward. The pushback has to start somewhere - and this is a great place to begin;
…the “Military Merit, Fairness, and Equality Act of 2023,” would ban the Department of Defense (DOD) from forcing troops, their family members, and civilian employees to “personally affirm, adopt, adhere to the tenet that any sex, race, ethnicity, religion or national origin is inherently superior or inferior.”
“The tenets of critical race theory are antithetical to the merit-based, all-volunteer, military that has served the country with great distinction for the last 50 years,” the bill states. “All Department of Defense personnel actions, including accessions, promotions, assignments and training, shall be based exclusively on individual merit and demonstrated performance.”
As we’ve outlined most Thursday’s here and at the OG blog, this would not be needed if DOD did not dive even deeper in to the racialist black hole we’ve been swimming in for decades.
Don’t forget - this is the military where the Chief of Naval Personnel insisted he needed photos back in selection boards to “ensure diversity” in the results and Chief of Naval Operations recommended in his reading list one of the most red in tooth and claw racist views of society you can find in the third decade of the 21st Century.
It has only gotten worse;
The Biden administration has, across the federal bureaucracy, pursued policies based on “equity” versus “equality.” At the DOD, pursuing “equity” means, for example, distributing opportunities in order to affect a certain outcome, such as a desired racial quota, versus distributing opportunities based on merit and ensuring that all troops have the equal opportunity to compete for them regardless of race.
BZ to the Senator for saying what those in uniform know is the reality of today, but they cannot say themselves or the Zampolits will come for them personally, professionally, and all the ruin that comes in their wake;
Mr. President, by adding “equity,” rather than equal opportunity, to the military promotion process, the Biden Administration is judging the selection of military leaders not on the content of their character, but on whether or not an individual happens to be a member of one demographic group or another.
Simply put, this amounts to quotas over merit.
This equity approach to promotions and assignments takes a sledgehammer to the foundation of the military. And worse, it creates divisions that put our men and women in uniform at risk. It pits them against each other based on factors they cannot control.
For a real return to judging people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin, a new chief executive is needed and more elected representatives of the people to vote for bills like the Senator proposes - enough to override vetoes.
The clawback will take time. We are talking about what is a secular religion here - one that does not take kindly to infidels or blasphemers. Steady pressure and education is the way. Back up others and provide top cover where you can to those stepping forward to do the right thing.
For those who are building the next right of center team for the Executive Branch - make sure the people you bring in know what time it is and have the spine and skin to act accordingly.
For those who are recruiting for the House and Senate - get the best candidates you can who can do this radical thing called … win in the general election.
Don’t expect the solution to come from those in uniform with stars. This can only be fixed at the political level … where it is.
"..Don’t expect the solution to come from those in uniform with stars.."
