Text of the bill. It would have been nice if Senator Wicker had added gender identity in addition to sex but that was probably a bridge too far. https://www.wicker.senate.gov/services/files/985A4F03-4A9D-442C-9AD2-5B7E55C8EDF1

Last time I checked, we all bleed red. Maybe we focus on inspiring out service members to excel and be "more than they can be" rather than finding ways to cleave us into this or that group or category. Beyond tedious and tiresome at this point.

I would like someone to comment on the stink that some (if not almost all) of the "loss of confidence" firings of officers with long and pretty distinguished careers is related to all of this.

It would seem there is room for a lawsuit on the basis that the laws and statutes of the US, based in the very language of the Constitution, guarantee equality in treatment. Therefore using EQUITY to make such decisions would be unlawful and discriminatory. I guess we'll have to see what the SC does re race in college admissions this summer to see if the atmosphere is ripe to challenge all of this.

I say it often. I say it at work, I say it here, I said it with a policy guy with whom I broke bread... We are not a serious fighting force. Ship numbers are down, spending money uselessly on shitty LCS ships, driving away alpha males, cause, ya know, YUCKY!

DoD COVID policy, Afghanistan withdraw, no desire to win in a war when engaged. SHIT ROEs, and leadership that does not follow the Core Values have made it super hard to retain and recruit. The sheer dishonesty of it. Congress had the manning chiefs for the services and asked them if any of them thought the DEI policies are having a negative effect on recruitment/retainment. Not one raised their hand. Stupid or liars. Which is it? Or is it both? The hubris as China marches on is amazing to me.

Equality and Merit. That's it. When you go beyond (mess with) that, nothing good will be the end-state. DEI is nothing more than a thumb on the scale. 'Equity' is a floating, ever changing 'It means whatever I think it means' non-measurement meme, void of both equality and merit. There are no racial/ethnic 'systemic' gatekeepers to prevent 'Diversity' or 'Inclusion'. The population of our military mirrors that of our Nation... who want to serve. The only gatekeepers are ASVAB Scores and Criminal Record checks. And even with then, there are 'waivers'.

It doesn't take a genius:

(1) The mainstay of your first term enlistees are male, white, and christian... predominately from the South and Midwest. The same population the Left vilifies. The same population that the 'new' DEI DoD will send to the 'back of the bus'.

(2) DoD hasn't learned yet: They've burnt a lot of bridges with the prior service and retired communities. Many are no longer part of the 'recruiting' force. Even to the point of discouraging enlistment. I'm in that camp. The extended family (last year) hit a milestone. Not one in the family is Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard. Nephew in-law was the last (Army Tanker), with 10 years. Unbroken since WW-II.

Some observations:

- Full length photos: I'm so old, I remember that was to cull the fat peeps out.

- Early/mid-nineties: The slow creep got faster. Rather than professional acumen and development of junior personnel, a soft 'well rounded' meme started in Evals/Fitreps. The collateral duties, continuing college education, and community service gained more prominence.

- Same time frame... JO writing ability went to the sewer. I swear. Run on forever sentences, comma kings, or adjective filled nothing burger sentences.

- Sea Daddy and prior wardroom selections... Went to the dark side.

- Military Services: No more day, week, month crap. National holidays and your service birthdays. That's it.

Rant Off

If diversity is our strength and we need to represent the population of the country, I have a question? Where are all of the short, fat, non-athletic people in the military riding scooters. I rarely see any of them and they now represent the majority of the population. :-)
