All true Sal. Was a relative meritocracy until after tailhook. Academy guys had a little advantage but they earned it. Flags increasingly become more political. It would be an exercise in frustration to serve today. I say let them have the long separations, divorces, lower pay without prestige we enjoyed like o’clubs. I would be so proud if my boys joined but I can no longer recommend it.
Sal, I have a few years on you so I recall some issues back in the early 70’s, but as time moved on it seemed to me that things got better. Also based on the numbers it appears that looks like the general population, however my thoughts are we need the best trained personnel the Navy can find.
