When we first started the DivThu series a little under two decades ago, I would have considered it exceptionally unlikely that we would have a nominee for Secretary of Defense would say the following about what he wanted to accomplish when he got into office.
First and foremost, upfront, you have to tear out DEI and CRT initiatives root and branch out of institutions. And then you have to put in Army, Navy, and Air Force secretaries and others civilian positions at the helm who are committed to the same priorities that the President of the United States is, and if confirmed, the Secretary of Defense will be. Send a clear message that this is not a time for equity. Equity is a very different word than equality. Equality is the bedrock of our military.
This exchange with Sen. Eric Schmitt, (R-MO) is prime. (NB: RIP that poor staffer who approved the prop…but we learn from mistakes.)
With Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), after the Senator’s set up, is also a, “pinch me” moment.
On the other side of the aisle, let me pick the most serious Democrat. I’m not going to subject you to the unserious and unmockable ones. I’ll let you look at them yourself.
Senator Reid (D-RI)’s staff did not serve him well. He has a very good record on defense for a Democratic Party stalwart, and I have a lot of respect for him. There are a fair number of people on both sides of the aisle who I have a great deal of respect for who are not a fan of Hegseth, and I believe their point of view deserves a good hearing. If anyone was going to do it, I expected it would be Senator Reid. This was all they could throw at him?
He’s going to be confirmed. No question.
If you are so interested, here is the full hearing.
As I mentioned on last night’s UNCLAS Read Board, this is an amazing time. Trying to shine light on what the Diversity Industry was injecting into our military over the years was not a popular thing to do. It got me on a lot of block lists. It had DOD IT block my blogspot blog blocked all over DOD controlled internet access. It had mole hunts run at USNA, it had pressure—eventually successful—put on institutions to disassociate with and defenestrate my Mark Twain. A lot of very good people, well-meaning people, were Mau-Mau’d into silence. Of course, it gave the bad-faith, ideology-uber-alles leftists throw all sorts of slander my way—as they did anyone else who dared to state what the next SECDEF clearly articulates in his confirmation hearing.
2025 is a good year.
This does not mean DivThu will be going away. There will be pushback. Like we have seen in Texas A&M recently, they will try to sea-lawyer themselves into continuing to do what want to do in order to continue to feed their industry and scratch their cultural-Marxist itch. They also think changing their name, like they have a West Point and USNA, will somehow allow them to continue their mission of sectarian division and grift.
I don’t think so, but they’ll try—and we will try to report on it when we can.
Today though, I’ll smile.
Equity means payback for something you never did and oh by the way you aren't included.
Let's not forget the 1619 project whereby slavery becomes America's original sin which can never be washed away thereby demonstrating that the Left is really a religion without a forgiving God. When Hillary used the word "irredeemable" it was not just some slip of the tongue. She meant it.
And the family? That has to be done away with along with terms like Mom and Dad. The Left sees the State as its god and the family stands between the individual and the almighty State. Can't have that.
Sal...had no idea about the actions various entities in DoD took against you in the name of DEI. The rest of DoD owes you a sincere debt of gratitude! Hand salute!
