But I have a nagging issue. In Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and every stinking rathole we’ve sent Americans to die, the roe always limited our responses and capabilities. Always with the same refrain “we don’t want to escalate the situation.” Well it seems like the fucking commies and ragheads don’t give a rats ass about “escalation.”
Some things a person cannot talk about, other thing they just don't talk about. I am glad to see Captain Royce Williams story told. The man is an inspiration.
My dad joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1939 and in 1943 was commissioned and became a pilot. He flew in Europe in WWII and in the Korea War. It was only a few years before dad passed away in 2000 that he talked about his experiences to me. Dad flew COMINT/ELINT missions in the Korean War, unarmed and unescorted. I still remember how happy my brother, sister and I were when dad came back from "over cheese" (overseas) in 1953. I was 5. It took him so long to open up about his wartime experiences. I'd done grunt work as a collateral duty EW Operator as a Radarman, served 9 years as an Electronics Warfare Technician, did a tour in EW at PacFlt and at EW Class "A" School. All that time, I never knew dad's background in EW. It was just that one time that he opened up. There are so many stories that never get shared. That's a sad thing. Thanks for posting that, Commander.
"About time" Aye! Well deserved, Aye!
I know the story, very glad to see this Fullbore.
BZ Capt Williams.

A long overdue award. HUUZAH CAPTAIN WILLIAMS, HUZZAH GRUMMAN!
Great story and thanks for sharing!
Chuck Yeager (and Rooster) once said “it’s not the plane, it’s the pilot’. Probably equal to or finest example or US dogfighting.
