Thanks Sal! I know I'm biased as an aircraft maintenance officer, but I think you're completely correct in your assertions. There's a soft spot in my heart for H-3s & their crews. (My wife was one of the last Instructor pilots.) Joint Ops makes sense, but I would have thought we'd learned joint aircraft don't really exist. I will always be an advocate for a Navy helo designed to float.

There has been an ongoing exchange with Vietnam and the US to encourage the Vietnamese government to assist in locating remains. We have been building shelters near coastal areas to those in danger from typhoons. it fall under State Department, and is administered by a Army Reserve Engineer Command. A similar program was underway in Laos in the late 1990s. An active duty Engineer Battalion was engaged in projects to help the Laos in exchange the Laos permitted/assisted with location of remains and return of US servicemembers.
