I had the privilege of hearing CMC James Parlier (ret) speak to our Mess last drill weekend. Among the many stories of courage and sacrifice I was heartened to hear the vast majority of the crew then too responded in 'the finest traditions of the naval service,' saving the ship and their wounded shipmates over the course of four terrible days. It is true there is much ruin in our Navy, but I still feel that when sh*t gets real, the deckplates will respond the right way.
But how could they POSSIBLY have been as brave as today’s Navy wokeness leaders??? <gag>
In all seriousness, any sailor that can read a detailed account of the battle and not be inspired needs to find something else to do with his life.
