I fully agree with your statement, "Now is not the time for such frivolity," because it is never time for frivolity when leaders are chosen. But frivolous, divisive factors seem to be the only ones used in today's politics. It is the only way to explain how some people ever got elected to their current positions.

I find the average Canadian politician to be wanting in serious world shaking situations.
Those countries that do not start kicking up 2% get to be the Home team for the the next NATO war
