This, and stories like, need to be told but they piss off just about everyone who reads it. The easy thing is to respond emotionally about a Sec Def for whom I have never had much confidence. I was familiar with the story and I’m curious if anyone has read anything from any of our leadership, regarding this officer’s guilt or innocence? Is it our official position (do we even have one) that he was rightfully or wrongfully convicted?
What do you expect from Austin? I am going to send the story to my Senators and Representative. Perhaps if enough outraged citizens kick Congress, Austin will have to reverse his moronic decision.
My old outfit is asking retirees to help recruit to meet increasing shortfalls. This unit routinely recruited to as much as 105% historically and is now struggling to reach into the high 90’s.
It’s stories like this, and a million other smaller things that leads me to not only not recruit, but to discourage a military career.
Had the good Lt been a queer activist over there kicking up dust he/she/it would be getting all the attention and help from this administration.
My son (now 21) had military on his job board (college/military, military/college); I told him over my dead body. It'll be interesting to see how conservatives steering their kids away from military service will turn out.
First I agree his pay and benefits should continue while he is imprisoned. But this is not new and has nothing to do with conservative or liberal. The military has changed quite a bit since I was commissioned in 1986. Some for better, some for worse but to somehow tie this to a woke military, as the ultra right likes to call, it is a false narrative. I can count on 2 hands the number of times I had letters from congressional staff inquiring on staff issues back in the day, when ships were wood and men were steel. But I never attributed it to a woke Navy.
Trying to label people as "ultra-right" for being able to recognize patterns in this administration and the modern military, in what they say and what they do, is just an attempt to marginalize folks with whom you disagree. Bad faith takes and attempts at ad hominems make weak rebuttals.
I raised both my sons with the expectation of military service. However, the changes I observed within DoD between 2009 and my retirement in 2017 has led me to encourage them to pursue other opportunities
This is appalling, but is totally in character with the Left, and the Biden Maladminstration in particular. Secretary Austin should be drummed out of his job, in disgrace. But since he is doing this to a United States Navy officer, he will probably be given Scooby Snax.
Some stupid shit right there
Yep ... that is the kind of stuff in my comments that gets you banned.
Next slide.
I over reacted. Great content, i just need to avoid the comments.
No, your description is accurate. You're good.

I am thinking that they don't really care if he is innocent or guilty, as long as he is punished.

I also contacted my Senators and Representative, as well as Chairman of the Armed Services Committee Adam Smith.
Thank you. I did not think of Adam Smith but will get a message off to him also. This abandonment of our own makes me furious.

Like “queer activist”? Please
If you're struggling with reading comprehension maybe you should refrain from commenting. Keep up or get back to the kid's table.
Thanks for setting me straight. Much appreciated

Thanks. I hope everyone sends something.
Only one question; Is anyone on this substack really surprised at this action?
Japan has the opposite presumption we do, defendants are guilty until proven innocent. What a tragedy

This administration seems to hate Good People.
He’s been doing it to unvaccinated service members for the last 16 months, so he has a lot of practice.
Eat shit with your bullshit propaganda. Idiot killed people, sorry, go to jail.
