I see what you're doing here, but this is one of those weird times in our modern age when truth and parody mix to the point that we can't tell which one is which lol.
Here's a link from the guardian, which is definitely NOT a pro Russian outlet, about the time when Russia actually asked to join NATO in 2000! Also, I think Yeltsin asked in 1993.
Understanding the importance of status as measured by number of flag billets was surprising and difficult for me when I first started in the combined world, but it is the measuring stick. No other appeal will work.
It struck me that the Oder is ~300 miles East of the Fulda Gap. Easy for even a Cold War child to partition the memory of the USSR, East Germany, the Fulda Gap and what our preparations/expectations were.

Hooyah! Former greenside HM3 OEF vet checking in here. Been following you for a while.
Can you explain to me why American patriots (and conservatives in general) should be at war with Russia?
Why it's any of our business while the problems you so accurately describe in our society and our Navy continue to get worse every month?
What am I missing here? What is the clear and present danger to us at this moment in time?
I have a hard time believing it's Putin's Russia. Maybe someone here can enlighten me?
We would rather have Ukrainians fight Russians in Ukraine than have Americans fighting Russians on the Oder.
Who said we have to fight Russians at all?
